The NMRA Opens its Exhibit at the California State Railroad Museum

"You can please some model railroaders all of the time,
and all model railroaders some of the time,
but you can't please all model railroaders all of the time"

I have not been to the NMRA display in California but judging from the photos... ho, hum.

I, for one, find more excitement when I find a display layout at a hobby shop,
such as this one at Berkshire Trains in Lexington, Kentucky.

Honestly, I think the money (the NMRA leadership claims that no member funds were used) and effort could have been channeled in a much more effective and useful way. For one thing, the vast majority of model railroaders live east of the Mississippi River. How many members will actually get to visit it? And my understanding is that the California Railroad Museum had to be induced with the Kalmbach Library to host the display. Neither the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania nor the B & O Railroad Museum were interested. Either of those would have been the more logical home for such an exhibit, assuming there's a reason to do it all.
