Dave Farquhar has a nice blog, almost always a great read. He's the king of frugal. I've gotten many great tips there, especially on making minor repairs/upgrades to PCs.

He seems a bottom-feeder when it comes to toy trains, a lot like me.

As I recall he used to post on MTJ some years ago. I think he lives in St Louis Mo ?

Wayne,
Thanks for the link to Dave Farquar's site. I can spend hours there.

Oh wow, Wayne! Thanks for that little tidbit. I had never heard of this product. (And now I know why! )

The track sounds like a great concept, very badly executed.

Our first house, built in 1974 (we bought it in 1990) had some aluminum wiring (most had been replaced fortunately). What a clusterf*** that was!

As to Fastrack, it seems to work pretty well, albeit a bit noisy. It is much superior to the MTH offering, which tends to have plastic mounting pins fail after a number of assemblies and disassemblies. At least that was our experience in the shop.

Nothing new there, I'm afraid.

There's a hysterical discussion over on OGR regarding the new "wireless" TIU that requires the handheld be wired to it to operate.
Some people are happy that the TIU has appeared in the Atlas catalog. I guess that's because they need another way to fail.

You can't make this up.
