More odds and ends this week. Went to the bi-monthly indoor flea market last weekend, picked up this nice postwar Flyer crossing signal:
This one includes the warning bell (inside the shed). Gotta make a track-contact for it. I'm thinking of something along the lines of what Marx produced, which was basically two small U-shaped metal bits that fit over the tops of the rails. The ability to vary the distance between the contacts could improve the flashing timing.
Was up to Sarge's place this week and he sent me home with these tinplate-sized whistle posts:
These are very cool. Anytime you find something that was handcrafted, probably quite awhile ago, it's neat to get them back on a layout. Something this simple has me wanting to get back down to the basement.
Lastly, still painting tiny ships:
CM-5 USS Terror, a USN mine-layer that served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during WWII. She took a kamikaze hit off Okinawa in May, 1945, which she survived. She was decommissioned in 1956.
