Weekend Photos - 10/11/19

Postby christopher2035 » Fri Oct 11, 2019 11:29 pm

Happy Friday!
Sorry for the late post, but I've been in Ohio all day & just got back & settled in the hotel for the night.

Found some time this week to paint the board & make it look all pretty. Also cut in the holes for the accessories. Planning on replacing the plasticville house with a Lionel roadside dinner in the coming weeks. I think this is the best configuration I could come up with given the size limitations. The kids requested 2 trains, a farm, and some accessories. Think that delivers all that. :)

Sometimes you don't need a train. Landgraff, WV

NS 234 is heading eastbound toward Norfolk as it passes the Southern States facility in Vinton, VA on the Blue Ridge District. Leading is rebuilt AC44C6M 4145 (ex NS D9-44CW 8992) Trailing third out is the S&A heritage unit.

Coming & going on the west slope. Amtrak P42 119 hustles the Pennsylvanian westbound while a train load of black diamonds heads east.

NS SD70ACe 1157 hustles 189 westbound through the outskirts of Narrows, VA on an overcast August morning. A keen eye will spot the NYC heritage unit trailing 4 of 4.

NS AC44C6M 4065 (ex NS D9-40C 8785) leads westbound coal 767 past a pair of N&W era whistle posts in Elliston, VA. With all of the modernization done in the last few years, these whistle posts are some of the few remaining reminders of the line's heritage.

Those are some lucky kids Christopher :). Wish my Dad had even the slightest interest in toy trains, but alas, he did not. They'll remember your efforts on their behalf for the rest of their lives.

The most important thing about your layout is that your kids like it and you help them like it. :) :) :) :) :)

I support thread drift.
