Weekend Photos - 2/15/19

Postby christopher2035 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:21 am

Happy Friday!

Didn't get much work done on the layout, except for hooking up TMCC to the main lines. Picked up a few more late 90s Lionel items.

Got the 1996 SSS & add on car. Grabbed the Lionel Belt Lionel caboose for the set, which I thought was a good match.

It's getting pretty tough to find one of these out on the rails today. Former Southern Railway high hood GP38-2 5230 is on home rails as it leads local turn P43 in downtown Charlotte, NC.

Is this the Lionel 18042 B&A Hudson. Was it the first die-cast engine that Lionel produced in the early 90s that had TMCC and Railsounds 2 ??

That's a bit steep, George. Prewar, as is, even in the less common gunmetal, $200 for a 1666 or 1666E is crackers. What does "Some OB - Fair" mean?

Lovely shot, Christopher:

I have no idea about price for the thing, Paul. :? I just posted the shot. Don't know what the sign means.

All that aside, it looks to be a nice example. FYI, they only made the gunmetal 1666E for one year, 1938, the first year of production. After that they were black.

In the spirit of F3's, here's a 2345 Western Pacific set I bought at a train show today. Other than some minor body scuffs they look great and are fantastic runners. Another Lionel item I thought I'd never have the chance to see in person, even crazier imagining owning.

I keep discussing Postwar train repairs with Lucas and seeing his new acquisitions and couldn't be left out. I've been wanting a set of Lionel Postwar F3's for years. Originally Santa Fe, but I now prefer the NYC ones a little more. I ended up making an offer on a Santa Fe 2175W set I found on eBay yesterday and got it after a bit of haggling with the seller. It appears to be in great shape and I'm excited to get it on the track. The NYC ones will come someday I'm sure...
