New Iron on The Circle Route

Postby Jim K » Sun Nov 26, 2017 3:56 pm

Howdy.

After reading an article in the July Train Collectors Quarterly I was very interested in getting a new train
set. Having been indoctrinated from my youth by my father about our Bohemian ancestry (and later ending
up with an appreciation for the original Fire Brewed Stroh's beer) I was very interested in getting some ETS
Trains equipment made in the Czech Republic. What better way to help possible relatives in Prague than to
spend a few greenbacks? The items below were the result on my total lack of control! My wife was so-so about
this venture at first, but my sister thought it was great. We are all pleased now. There were some issues
but nothing that couldn't be fixed. This is sort of an early Merry Christmas to me from me. You know
Enjoy.

Good for you, Jim! I've been looking at these a long time. Are they still all metal? Do the sets still come in wooden boxes?

Looking good, Jim!

Roy,
Yep, mostly all metal except for a few of the
trim pieces. While they sell a couple of sets
in the wood box I selected individual items so
I did not get a wood box. The cars are heavy and
it is about all “Claudia” can do to get around the
layout. They show some larger locomotives in
the catalog but the minimum radius seems to go
from 27 inches to 54 inches for most of them.
I question that 54 inches but it is clearly stated.
I might contact them to verify this. It would
have to help to get all the weight on the drivers
which a lot of the others locos have. They are
nice equipment though IMHO.

Sweet!!! Nice looking trains, look right at home on the layout.

Nice. I've been accumulating a few ETS pieces over the last couple of years. The stuff is very nice...sort of an O-scale LGB in appearance.

Dave,

That blurred green apparatus is a Labelle LSE Motor Freight. It gets moved around a bit but it is always nearby! :)
I posted some photos of it in the past and explained our love hate love love relationship.

That Labelle LSE is beautiful, Jim K. I can see why you always keep it nearby. It has that handcrafted perfection look to it.

Murph,

Thanks very much. This baby may be my pinnacle in car kit building. I got some worthwhile suggestions
from a couple of folks in the Traction group. I was really lost for a while figuring out how best to mount
the power unit and roof. You know the real basics to a car kit! I'm an idiot at times! But more often just
happy. The color is not prototype as I was quickly informed by a local LSE fan. But he enjoys the car too.

Train and Traction ON,

Jim K, The color may not be prototypical, but it is, surely , a major element in the vehicle being so handsome. Your hand at such master craftsmanship is, obviously , the overriding element of real quality which has infused the entire effort.
May I ask to see other examples of your modeling? Do you have a diorama or layout within which you have utilized your masterpieces?
(Please excuse me if I am requesting something which has been addressed already in previous posts.)

Murph,

You have been interested and spoke kindly of some of my prior railroad photo postings.
I'm the same old whining Jim K of the past! Thanks much. :D :)
