2 of my 3 classes were cancelled today so I was able to get out and catch some trains earlier than normal

You do have a l;ittle variety in your area. :D :D

What are/were the reporting marks on the box car just above?

C&O. You can faintly see them on the side under the 'Cushion Underframe' lettering

Detroit is great for train watching. CSX, NS, CN/GTW, CP and Conrail all operate in the area and you can see lots on BNSF power on CSX and CN coal trains and occasional UP power on Conrail trains

The "freight house" terminal in Plymouth used to be a hobby/train shop back about 30 years ago. Chessie would sometimes do an open house in the yard just north of the diamond.
