If this is true, then I was right sometime ago when I said MTH closing was just a ploy.
Or is it like when the original Lionel was sold to General Mills?
Either way MTH will be around.

I was talking to a local MTH dealer on Friday and he mentioned that a slimmed down MTH was likely in the works. I tend to discount what I hear from this guy as he can sometimes lean toward being a blowhard, but maybe he really knows something.

If it will stop the whining, angst and general complaining about Lionel, it will be worth the trouble of having Mike Wolf still around saying how spectacularly wonderful he is . The navel gazing has been interminable and pathetic.

Perhaps they will change the name to "Minimal Train House" or "Micro Train House" to acknowledge the circling of the drain that is occurring?

So what does that paragon of open discussion, the O Gauge Forum have to say about MTH? I've been banned from even accessing the forum for daring to disagree with the "elders" of that particular Cubscout troop, and cannot be bothered to use another IP address to read the self-congratulatory rhapsodies .

With this piecemeal dissolution, perhaps they will rename it "Minimal Train House" or "Micro Train House" or "Marginal Train House?" Amazing how people can view this circling the drain as some sort of progress or victory.

"Lionel" sold the train division to General Mills. They had morphed into a real estate holding company that owned a chain of discount toy stores mainly in the north east.

I'm not sure how you can "retire" and "sell" the company if you are still the majority stock holder? He may be stepping down from day to day operations but that's about it. MAYBE he wanted to shut down but couldn't find a buyer even for a piecemeal sale? Liquidate what you can and hold on to the rest as a scaled down company?
