NEW eBay Payment Rules

I'll admit I haven't sold anything on EB for 4-5 years, but I had some HO stuff that needed to go. I don't know of any selling forums for HO, like we have in O scale (O Scale Yardsale), but I will certainly look for them.
So, I listed and sold an item, but the purchase funds don't get paid out for up to a week after the buyer receives the package. WTF is that all about? No, I didn't read any updates made over the decades that I've been a member, but this is a new one on me. I realize there is always a possibility of buyers getting screwed, but I've heard of sellers getting screwed too.
I hate EB.

New one to me as well.
I get paid directly into my bank account 48 hr after the buyer pays. I did last week and also this week. There's a page for setting that all up somewhere.
And, I'm pretty sure that there's an HO Yardsale site....or there used to be.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm sure this is user error. My CC expired last month and I hadn't updated by account....just did it. Funds generally go directly to my bank account so maybe updating my CC info will get the money released to me sooner. It's not the money, it's the fact they can hold it so long.

There's an HOSwap list on groups.io, plus a bunch of Facebook groups.

Chase down the payments settings! Look under Selling and explore - it's not like they make some of these settings easy to locate,
There's also the shipping time settings - some folks seem to think that you have to ship it out immediately; not true -- there are choices you can apply and customize.

Was not 100% sure of the HO site on groups.io. As for Facebook, nope!

Yes! I encountered this when I sold my Key FEF. The good part was that I got free shipping to my buyer. This was because It was the first time I sold under this new arrangment I had to wait for the funds till 24 hours after delivery of the item, this made me nervise, but the funds were avaliable after the itam was delivered. I was able to transfer it into my bank account, and i did get a good price from somone up in Queensland, So all is well that ends well!

I've never had this happen. I've always gotten paid for my sales within a day (2 at most) and that has automatically gotten transferred to my bank.
Maybe this delay for you guys is a consequence of settings and infrequency of selling?

I'm checking into it now and trying to find a concise answer is next to impossible.....you have to keep drilling through the BS and then sometimes are lead back to where you started. They've become masters at this type of BS.
I've asked why the hold since I've been a member since 98, they have my bank & CC details and I never had this payment delay before. My CC was out of date, but I updated yesterday, but it appears this hold process until delivered is common practice now. I haven't sold anything there since 2023 and lots of changes and new BS since then.
Oh yeah, I did see a link where you can get instant payment for $2.00, but I want to bombard them with emails and generally harrass them until someone communicates with me.

That's pretty standard now for all businesses; frustrate you until you give up and then you call in to talk to an AI that leads you in more circles. Yup. Been there and once I do get a human, I close out dealing with that business.

So again, I've never had payments put on hold. From what I remember this sometimes happens due to being completely new to the system w/o a track record, but maybe it's also for someone that's been inactive. When was the last time you sold anything there? I keep a pretty active account and rarely not have something listed. Eventually everything sells and then I start back up listing 8-10 items per week until mid-Nov. Not keen on visiting the PO during the holidays...what a zoo that becomes! Stuff that doesn't sell at Strasburg after 3-4 tries....yup, goes away usually for more....

Oh, no.....I wait a day and it's free transferred to my bank. Well, if you're going to have fun with them maybe that will work eventually,

If you go awhile without selling on eBay. They will hold your payment. Your payment will be released when tracking shows buyer received that item.
If you continue to sell regularly. Ebay will update how long it takes to receive payment.
I usually get paid after tracking shows item is in shipper’s
Paypal will release enough funds to buy an online shipping label. Bottom line your payment hold is standard procedure for someone that had a long lapse in ebay sales

Just for example this is the kind of horrific actions eBay does to its critics.

I pretty much have to respond - even though my hobby is trains, etc., and not eBay or the deterioration of life in general.
EBay may be trying to thwart sellers who post fictional items, get your $, then disappear to re-appear under another account. I of course do not know that for sure.
You all know I am the token Liberal around here - that I am simply aghast at what has happened under the Trumponian regime. But when it comes right down to it, even now there is no other place on the planet I would rather be, and no other time in history that I could do what I do.
As a young guy I screwed up a bunch of things - college, a marriage, too many parties - but I sort of got straightened out between about 1975 and 1980, wound up with four college degrees, a bunch of jet transport ratings, two bar memberships, more trains than any other kid on the block, and maybe even more airplanes and Mustang convertibles. That, plus The Greek has put up with me for 47 years, so I must have straightened out. Or maybe she straightened me out?
But here's the thing: in spite of screwing up the beginning, I still wound up quite happy, able to do anything I want within reason, having more toys than anyone could consider reasonable, able to fly 1941 biplanes practically daily, - hey, my only complaint is having to take peepee pills and put up with Aedes mosquitoes. That, and, at 85, the knowledge that this really fine life is going to come to a screeching halt sooner rather than later.
So my advice: if you are really unhappy with your existence, wiggle your toes and look around - many folks just like us are being blown off the planet with our dwindling supply of ammunition, yet nobody is shooting at us. And we can buy mosquito traps (we just did, out of desperation).
There is hope for the political situation. The cure for eBay, if you do not like it, is to not go there, or better, start a competing service. In business, as in politics, we still have a vote. Even when we are young and foolish, we have a choice. Not every human has been that lucky.
Um - opinion.

Great opinion Bob! So right.
Focus on the good, there is a lot! I still use eBay to buy, it is what it is now. Don't like it?, leave.
