"Paint is chipping in a few places." Really? I hardly noticed.
My guess is a Thomas.

They did but not with that drive system - that looks like Lionel or Marx

and we quote ....." Great physical shape!" ....... sounds like a line one would use on a dating site ......
I think this a kit bash with a Lionel drive ....... not Thomas ...which used castings ...
check out link to learn all about Jim Thomas and his trains at
http://www.tcawestern.org/thomas.htm
Louis Hertz (dean of the lets collect toy trains movement) ..wrote a book about "conversions " ......how to take a tin plate engine and scale it ...sorta ...
In the 30's early 40's money was not growing on trees ....tinplate engines were cheap and plentiful.... and TV was not there to distract and waste your time ....so many who wished to get into the scale world took a tin plate engine and "improved" it ..
These "trans" engines are in a class of themselves....... kinda a pariah .....tin-platers will have nothing to do with them as it destroyed a perfect tinplate piece .....scale folks jump to the other side of the street when they see one approaching...... yet Hertz's book about how to tranny your train is the highest price book of all his publications ......
I think they are fun and unique pieces ... but street value ....not much .
Cheers Carey

Showed this one to my spouse - asked " can I have it?"
She said " be very careful to not hit the "buy it now" button - that "buy it now" is now a one-click process. Not sure of that; not willing to test it.
I am with Dave - this, too, is not worth $5.95 even with free shipping.

I just experienced that last week, as advertised, it was one click and over with.

Do you have your Paypal account fully linked to eBay?

No, it took me by surprise and I hadn't completely figured out what happened until I read this post. As soon as I chose to pay by PayPal, it completed the sale without giving me the opportunity to chose which account, etc like PayPal used to on these. The PayPal account just used the same card I had entered for the last purchase, no chance to back out, etc. Since the last PayPal account I had opened was the company account, that's the one that got dinged, not my personal account as I would have preferred.

Re: Here's another "deal and a half".........!!!!!
The point is, one could, with a careless pass of a finger, wind up with a startling deal. Remember the $25,000 Challenger? One could just miss the "watch" button by a half inch and be out a very large pile of money.
Re: Here's another "deal and a half".........!!!!!
You would need a paypal account that can handle a $25,000 transaction. I'd check to make sure my one click was not used as paypal credit card.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes
