Everybody thinks that. They are the find-them-at-swap-meet-for-five-bucks Walthers or All-Nation.
Whack 'em.
Hardest part is carving out the overhang of the roof end so you don't have some huge flat bottomed block.

I thought this KTM 4-8-2 looked quite nice in Southern green:
Ebay - KTM VINTAGE O 2 RAIL PAINTED BRASS SOUTHERN 4-8-2 ENGINE & TENDER--ROAD #1476
The seller also sold a KTM 4-6-2 to the same buyer:
Ebay - KTM 2 RAIL PAINTED BRASS CRESCENT LIMITED 4-6-2 ENGINE & TENDER--ROAD #1396

Nice paint. So, what are they? I do not recognize the mechanisms, which seem the same in the dark.

I am bumping this thread to remind myself to post a photo of a recent acquisition. I will, however, have to take a photo before I can post it.

Re: Monday Mountain thread
I recently paid too much for this SC Mountain and Hudson tender. Couple of questions..
As this Hudson tender is Bronze, were later versions Aluminum? or were all Bronze?
Also, as you can see the drive wheels are toast..... I am or was pretty sure at least the prewar wheels were cast iron... did this change after WWII perhaps?
I suppose if anyone has a set of 1.5" dia SC drivers or castings for this thing, I would be interested.

A lot of work ahead of you. You need rods. Check with Stevenson; I did masters of full clevis rods. I will check the driver supply.
A better shot of that tender? Is it cast or sheet metal? Rivets?

Dennis -- I believe this is a SC Mountain chassis:
I took this photo (and a few others) to sell it on eBay, but if you are interested send me a PM and we'll work something out.

Do that. I have not yet checked driver supply, but any spares I have would need machining. This is a great solution to your dilemma.
I have no idea where that tender came from. It looks very NYC. The Mountain is SP, and all of them had cylindrical tenders, except MT-2.

Re: Monday Mountain thread
PM sent, thanks Jim I would like that.
Bob, that tender should be the correct bronze cast SC Hudson tender. It reflects the SC tender drawings exactly. This is good, since I have about half an SC Hudson....
