Stupid observation , but isn't that a Drovers caboose? looks well built.

Not at all - exactly what it is. One the best fitting roof bits that I have yet to handle which leads me to consider keeping it removable pending painting. It snaps down on both sides of both side doors very tightly and there are a few cross ribs under the roof that have to be aligned just so...

Could. All that holds the cupola on now is gravity, Have to do a few other "adjustments' to the roof bits. Would seem to waste a perfectly good cupola,

Drover's cabooses and "mixed" cabooses are superficially similar though drovers typically have additional interior bunks and as a consequence usually no baggage doors, in that regard again this looks like a mixed "accommodation," actually in this case a lot like a branch line SLSW caboose in particular

More like the roof sets down inside the sides and then also over the doors and into slots in the sides with a pressure fit. Sides are slightly spring inwards so there's pressure involved, too. Once in place, there's little play in the joinery. Snug as a bug in a rug. Guy who built this engineered it well.

The only drovers caboose I ever actually saw and it literally rotted from existence in my formative years, had baggage doors and stalls for the horses instead of baggage. It along with a lot of other oddball equipment used to sit in the ILC/ CNW north Omaha freight yard now also long gone. let me think on it and I'll remember the ranch name on the side. probably at 3 am a couple of days from now!

I want to say Walthers but I am not one hundred percent sure. I, or a friend, had one like it and that brand always popped into mind; either because the person that originally owned it stated that it was or someone else did. Please post a picture of the underside.

Def could be Walthers. Are the ends diecast? any shots of the bottom? I just saw a couple of those go by on ebay...Di you out bid me?

Not assuming the car is kitbuilt, since we haven't heard what the material is.

If it's brass, then I'd guess (need some more views and better clarity to be sure) Max Gray what with the dummy couplers and fixed couple pocket ends.

MG did several runs of X31 and X32, followed by US Hobbies and lastly NJCB, all repeats by KTM in Japan and improved in detail level each time. It was a staple.

Meanwhile, the PA looks kinda familiar. Where did you get it and was it in that form?

Gents, thanks for the responses. I think it could be a mix of parts. Here is what I got:

The body and the frame is ALL wood construction.

The doors are like a tin material? See inside shot.

The ends appear to be tin or metal as well.

Trucks look to be Atheran or All Nations?

Possibly started out as Walthers from the 1930's or 40's???

It was a kit and was completed in March of 1963.

Any info on the PA? I'm suspicious that I've met that particular one before, but would like to hear more about what you might know as to its history before I say anything.
