I think I have a set or two of those couplers and mounts.

I think I have a Thomas tank car with couplers like that. I also have two fishbelly flatcar frames that have that mechanisim in them. I'll try to post a picture later this evening.

Sorry for the delay, I'm guessing mfr's didn't use this type of spring cushioning very often? it certainly would have added a bit of cost to the kit!

Just about all of the bit and parts were in the box in some plastic tubes; I have plenty of wood, had those decals in the cigar box, underbody bits I added from my parts drawer, and then trucks and couplers out of the parts bins. The paint for the sides was something I had bought - a $6 bottle of Polly Scale, but it was the right color and it was there on the shelf in the shop up in Philly....

Rufous I know your tastes tend to the smaller rural lines of Eastern Pennsylvannia, Maryland etc. but that caboose looks like it's from one of those Frisco, Katy or GC&SF mixed trains straight out of the dust-bowl. Neat-O

You're absolutely correct, but it was not to be resisted. The roof and cupola are both removable at this time. Might be able to maintain a removable roof after a some cosmetic gluing here & there. The missing parts, ladders and 1 end platform arrived inside the body!! 3 Cheers and a tiger! But those trucks have just got to go...........

I have to agree there. Two of my three have them, the third has three-axle Buckeyes.

I have a few pairs of Walthers Sierra trucks with 36" wheels in them that will look good under this car.

I'll recycle these trucks onto some car I rebuild/restore or on to one that I'll sell. Waste not......
