Oh, I be cherishin' it now, and am, thus, emerging from my culturally-challenged period (with appropriate extra effort.) 8)

Would you care for a bottle of sparkling muscatel? Idaho's finest wine? And, would you like a straw for that, too?

Muscatel, sparkling? Idaho, wine? I think I'll leave all of those wonders for you to imbibe, bub, especially considering your wonderful imagination (or my lack of Idaho depth.)

A later scene in the same movie - you might want to sit and view it in a quiet reflective moment........

Murph,
You did savor muscatel didn't you? If you didn't you were either very protected or RICH. That means your father was in management. :D :D

We (when I was a teenager) heard that was good for cleaning metals and gave a maddening, very sickening headache-hangover if you over-indulged; don't know if it was true or just legend.

You didn't live in a working class Italian neighborhood as I did.
They drank muscatel or made their own wine. My best friend's grandmother made the best dandelion wine I ever had.
It was served in water glasses and if you drank two glasses they rolled you home.

"...if you drank two glasses they rolled you home."
That's wonderful (wording.) :D I laughed right out loud.
The only alcoholic beverage that ever caused me to need rolling home was a 6-pak 'o beer (circa1964) which was nearly the last beer ever for me , despite its near-cult status on this forum. I always found the flavor boring and useless, and the dull high not worth the ensuing pain.

I used to prefer a tall, ice-cold glass of Jack Daniels 'n Coke or splitting a bottle of good quality (Piper or Charles Heidsieck, Moët, Mumm , or Veuve Clicquot ) champagne with a friend, and/or wife, which equalled a fast zip upwards, a pleasant hour-long flight, and a quick drop back down to earth , sans hangover totally .
