I think that there might be more churches than people in Franklin Co. PA and the surrounding areas...or that the folks there just like to build them?

At one time before the more aggressive DWI laws, I thought the churches and bars in south central PA were running pretty much neck and neck. That observation aside, I certainly agree with you!

Is the one in Shippensburg still there? The only church that showed up in Google street view was one on Orange at S. Penn St.

No idea. Been close to a year since I passed through Shippensburg on my way over to Sarge's........ Can't say that I paused to look around,

I should take a few days with the camera to see what scenes and buildings that Laughlin recorded still exist.

The reason that I ask about the three reasonably close places: Greencastle, Chambersburg, and Shippensburg is that I have friend in Chambersburg and know someone on Sheridan Court in Shippensburg. The next time that I visit, I may do some roaming around. Thank you for posting this stuff.

Or the Methodist Episcopal Church in Shippensburg?

This one looks more like a trolley sub to me. Nice looking building, anyway.

What I like to look at is the diversity of the styles of these buildings.

Yeah the archetecture of the buildings is very interesting. I don't know if I spelled the a word right.

Architecture in the 19th and early 20th century really had style!! One of those early churches up against a modern day church wins hands down in my book any day.

If I would ever have money and could have built any style of house for a new home, I'd be torn between Victorian and Federal architecture. They just look so impressive with their massive rooms and large windows and fireplaces. And think of the size of those attics for a trainroom!
