The Hiawatha has arrived. I am waiting to get some things done before opening it at my leisure with a cool beer at hand. How glossy will it be? Ever since Frank's stunning images, I can't get it out of my mind. We'll know in a short while.
Anticipation.

Baba Ganoush, lebanese
1 medium eggplant
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup tahini
1-2 garlic cloves
Salt (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
parsley sprigs
Preheat oven to 400. Pierce eggplant in several places w/a fork and place in a shallow baking dish. Cover loosely w/foil and bake for about 40 minutes or until tender and slightly imploded. Remove while skin is still hot, and trim away ends if still firm. Chop the flesh until fine or puree in blender or food processor. Blend in most of the lemon juice and gradually add the tahini. Crush the garlic and add, beat well, then add the remaining lemon juice and salt to taste if desired. Beat in olive oil and minced parsley. Place in a shallow bowl and garnish w/parsley sprigs. Serves 4/6.

Three old ladies, Gertrude, Maude, and Betty were sitting on a park bench in Corona Del Mar having a conversation, when a hobo named... well, never mind,... approached them from across the park.

It's good. It runs. It is terribly glossy. It is what I had anticipated back in February when I pre-ordered. I love it.
The gloss is about what was presented with the Standard Gauge version of several years ago (missed that boat).
My static images are no match for those Frank posted. They say it all. I will take some tomorrow on the layout and post them.
All in all, a most satisfying purchase (albeit, with some delayed gratification).
This is the first venture into Milwaukee Road. Where does it end? Does one have to have a Little Joe as well?
I'll talk about the whistle tomorrow. What is a 4-4-2 Atlantic supposed to sound like?

I believe the fellow in the ejector seat was holding a gun on Bond and had a squinty look. My car was gold and only the machine guns, bullet shield and ejector seat worked. The other options were added on newer versions.
Jon, I wish I'd known about your interest in the cars. This woman was supposed to eBay them for me and simply stole the valuable cars and sent the rest back. I'll see what I have left. I was so disheartened by the incident that I haven't been able to check. I know the Bond car is sold because I saw it on eBay. I think it brought 75.00, but I can't really remember.
So San, was I correct about the cars in the photo or is that not actually your wife's brother's garage?
