When you are out and about in the woods keep an eye out for feral hogs. New Jersey has them also. Razor sharp tusk that can slit you wide open. And hogs will eat humans also.

How would you like to run into this one ??

Hogs, deer, coyotes, vicious dogs, gangsters, teenage gangs, restrictive gun laws... I think it is time for New Jerseyites to all get pets that offer real protection.

A Grizzly Bear would be perfect for Murph.

Lawdknowz it be a good suggestion, but I been doneknowd that finding a litter-box adequate fer da challenge would be nigh-on impossible, not to mention havin to empty it of neighborhood denizen bones. Thanx fer thinkin of me, though. :D

No, not at all. I have seen many yards in NJ that easily exceeded the square footage on mine here in VA. I used to work in NJ a few decades ago, too.

What I do have is a perspective on keeping neighbors from encroaching upon one's privacy.

Once again, I am happy for you. Yup.
Oh, and your best advice, therefore, is to "just send it out to the neighbors" when it needs to relieve itself. Nice n neighborly, that. Yup. A real stud in the gracious and cordial, yet orderly and convivial neighbor part, UmHum.

When you take your daily walks take your pet with you, just as the neighbors walk their dogs. Where do the dogs do their business?

As far as I have observed, they do their business in their own yards, before embarking on their neighborhood adventures. On rare occasions, I have seen dutiful escorts clutching deposits up into handy-dandy plastic bags, carried homeward (something I will never, ever, ever do, except if I had a bear, o'course.)

Share and share alike; maybe it will repel the deer and coyotes and then your neighbors will thank you,

In many places if you do not clean up after your pet, you will end up being visited by the police who will issue you a lovely autographed piece of paper with a request for payment to the county.

The same is true here. Bravo! And Brava!
It's the idea of following behind an animal to wait for it to make a deposit which is why I do not want a dog. Cats have always proven to be neater (and less humiliating , IMO ) , not that emptying a litterbox is any particular joy.

That would be up to the chef and then the rat, although they could be one and same.
