Bike path where it goes under the I-10, I-19 freeway interchange. The bridge height sign says 15 ft, 3 in. Why is the height pertinent above a bike path?

I like exploring these paved trails found all over Tucson. The one going under the bridges led to South Tucson.

Some day that path may be used as a access road. This way the guy driving a firetruck will know If his truck fits. Also it helps know nothing tv. reporters tell folks how far a car fell from an overpass.

I think you are right Robert. I do see park maintenance pick-up trucks using the bike paths. The roadbed probably could withstand larger trucks.

Since I can't quite discern what type of beak he has, I wonder if that colorful bird, just landing, has arrived to rip some other bird's head off and eat its heart or if it is there to show-off as an invitation to have sex. Eh?

Yup. He's a seed eater. A hooked beak may have indicated a meat ripper, just like relatively thin and longish can indicate an insect eater; a long and strong beak a fisher, right?

Correct Roger, it is a House Finch, (Haemorhous mexicanus).
Yes it is local to Tucson, Totowa and Pembroke. Have you seen them in your yard looking for seeds on the ground?

The red is sort of less pronounced, duller, washed out in this area.
That was my first guess but the colors were too brilliant.
We have them in this area but I wasn't sure at all.
Old eyes maybe.

Dog's expression is hilarious Healey.

Reminds me of the look some ladies give me when they find out I am looking to get married again. When I talk to them I find out what the look is about... their last marriage was a disaster and they are not about to take a chance on repeating it with me. Us old people have a lot of baggage we carry around with us.

One young woman (she is only 64, maybe too young for me) actually proposed that I stay single and enjoy my freedom like she is doing. Well... I have one proposal so far.

The red is sort of less pronounced, duller, washed out in this area.

The red of a male House Finch comes from pigments contained in its food during molt (birds can’t make bright red or yellow colors directly). So the more pigment in the food, the redder the male. This is why people sometimes see orange or yellowish male House Finches. Females prefer to mate with the reddest male they can find, perhaps they think red is a "hot" color.
