My son has a duster that I bought him for Christmas a few years back - I don't believe I've ever succeeded so well in a gift selection for him. These are interesting coats that just get brushed and then oiled to repel moisture and then are lined for warmth.

Would you say certain of the figures featured in these vignettes had on such a garment?

Actually, no. That is more of what used to be termed a frock coat. See: https://www.gentlemansemporium.com/stor ... p?eesc=cat

Here's a cotton duster: https://www.gentlemansemporium.com/stor ... p?eesc=cat

But my son's is actually a much heavier grade coat and bit longer, and of a canvas that gets oiled yearly.....think water repelling, out in the weather...

Thanks, Rufus, that's kind of what I thought. The coats on my figures seemed more tailored and substantial than the impression I had I my head about those Dusters. Nice to know, altogether.

A scene of complete non-sequitur character to the CVRR connected by the most tenuous of threads, but one to look at nonetheless....

Rufus,

Very interesting group. Do you have any more info about them?
Or would you just like to make up a tale?

I'm sure that they are all identified and also that's a young George Custer reclining on the right of the photo next to the dog.

Picture is a Brady from 1862 of the staff of Fitz John Porter, General of the Union Army during the Civil War.

Looks like the same building.

I have not seen the X and circle arrow on the road like that before.
What do they mean?

Somebody must have made an awful lot of "Doughboys" with their hand raised and carrying a rifle.
Seems like nearly every town that has a place to put one has one.
The one in my hometown park often would have a beer bottle in the hand of the upraised arm.
I didn't do it.
