Re: Got wood?
Out of respect for your sharing that photo and in reply to your answer to me:
Actually, I just learned on CBS News, tonight, that there is a new sculpture temporarily in-place in NYC which perhaps evokes a similar atmosphere as your man-chair artistry. It is of a seated figure of the author of “Raisin in the Sun,” Lorraine Hansberry. She is seated, lifesize, with a couple chairs accompanying the seated female figure, which invite sitting down for a time to keep-company with the figure in her chair, for some moments of contemplation about Life, etc. and the author and her milestone literary work.
The entire ensemble will be short-lived in its place in NY and then begin a tour around the country. Perhaps the vignette will come to your area and you can participate in the sculpture by having a seat alongside the sculpture’s human figure in her seat within the statement by the sculptor .

Interesting.....and probably better than riding through "It's a Small World" in Fantasyland.
But they need to bring back Mr Toad's Wild Ride.

It's called folk art and was probably made by someone who thought making this would be important to his religious beliefs.
How do you know it’s Jesus
I think it would be better if it was a catholic priest

So…..a man with long dark hair and a beard portrayed as ? since the beginning of time. Ok maybe you didn’t say it but the implication was there.

There are a lot of religions and beliefs out there -- the world is not completely monochromatic despite many thinking and/or wanting it to be so.
I'd have a chair with Chthulhu carved across the back of it,

Re: Got wood?
I’m not aware of a single word of doctrine or Epistle(s) that stated or suggested Jesus wanted believers to aim their asses at him with the intention of sitting in his lap. Nowhere. Not one word .
That’s why I ignored any supposition (based on the face of the chair ?) of a Christian factor when I replied initially to that picture. I didn’t see any point in such a connection.

While I’m no Bible scholar Matthew 19:13-14 says
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Believing Jesus was gentle and kind and caring he may have very well held, hugged, or had children sitting in his lap. The scriptures do require us to think a little beyond what they say at face value.

Re: Got wood?
Neat, I wonder how much it is?
EDIT: I just looked it up; $229.99!
A little too rich for me.
