Would be interesting to put IR detectors in it and micro speakers.......just for the fun of it!

I bet it is a nightmare to walk down. I'm sure i could fall down it.

Try tap dancing - If Shirley Temple could tap up & down steps, you probably can, too!

Re: Got wood?
It’s supposed to be good for our brains not to look at the stairs as we descend them; I’ve heard it said such looking trains the eyes and brain to head for a fall, not aim for the goal of the floor ahead . I try not to look at the stairs as I descend them, assuming, of course, I have made certain, as a matter of course, no objects are on them. We have always allowed absolutely nothing to be stored on any staircase in our house.
Sometimes , I have even descended stairs with eyes closed, but utilizing the handrail, of course.

I have only fallen on steps by looking at them and thinking about them too much. I only doubted myself after I had my cataracts surgeries and that's the only time I've tripped by mis-stepping.
I go up & down mine in the dark - they have not moved or changed in over 30 years so they are right where they were yesterday.

Furthermore, once your eyes are closed for the descent, since the brain, as you mentioned, has long known how to descend stairs, you’ll be immediately amazed at how instantly you become aware the brain is trying to grow / establish new skills, besides sight, for descending stairs eyes-closed. It’s not a constant exercise, of course, but when you have decided to do it and have allotted time and effort for it, it will amaze you how newly aware you become of the brain learning and growing skills it’s already had and invested anew and ready to grow for the new challenge.

You're going to need that hearing for when you are in a parking lot with a Tesla coming up behind you.
