Tramp,
Love it. It looks like chalk?
I am a big fan of Thomas the Tank. I bet he will be upset when he wakes up. All the other engines will laugh at him. Poor Thomas.

Jon, thank you for helping with the post.

Kurt,
I could not help but imagine that form being an application for MTJ membership.

San,
So you are enjoying the simple pleasures of Cajun Cooking? (Just throw anything you have into a pot of boiling water.) It is a lot like hobo cooking except with Cajun hot spices are your friend.

Roger, If you're in the cockpit of the Blackhawk the heating is great! If you're in the crew area it's miserable!! To many air leaks and only 2 small heat vents for the entire cabin!!!

Running that red block Charlie.
Re: Hobo Jungle
Thanks Jon,
I suppose the air cooling when it's 100 is just as good.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Any of you guys able to ID this bird? I don't think I've ever seen it before. There's a small flock of 15-20 that are hanging out on my FIL's part of the driveway. I can't get real close before they wing it. My camera has 12x optical zoom, 48x digital zoom beyond that. I took this pic with the digital zoom, but 'digital' degrades the image. I'm going to try again with just the 'optical', and see if I can't blow it up and get better definition.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Dirt,
The birds look almost like Myrtle Warblers. They are usually in flocks in the spring and fall.Any guess on size, length?

Re: Hobo Jungle
Got a couple of much better pictures. Optical zoom only, but maximum pixels/size, so I could blow them up without losing too much clarity. (Each pic was 2.5 million megabytes!)
I walked up, rather than trying to point my camera out a car window, and they were considerably less timid.
I doubt a warbler would be up here in winter, but ya never know.

That white wingbar is very prominent, and that rufous coloring across the chest and under the wing, and the dark cap, orange seed-eating bill, and the cheek patch. A flocking bird- they only fly as a group. And they seem to like the manure we spread yesterday. They're very white underneath when flying, they can almost disappear against the clouds when they're overhead. I've never seen them before.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Saw something similar in my bird-book, a "snow bunting". By the picture, it wasn't tremendously close, but this internet picture is more similar-

Maybe that's it. According to my birdbook, it's out of it's normal winter range, and WAY out of it's summer.
Cool! A new one.

Snow Bunting! You figured it out yourself.
