After a week of suffering through the tropical weather of Florida.......I know what's waiting for me on my return. I put that little rental Chevy HRR through Hell driving almost non-stop from Panama City Beach to the house. It's big, gorgeous, and the last one that was in Scott's display case at 3rd Rail since 2002! I'm one lucky son-of-a-bitch!!!!!!!!! Pictures to follow.

This church window probably seemed like a really great idea when it was designed.

So you don't want to drill for oil in the U.S. because the caribou might get fleas, huh? Well welcome to how your money is being spent buying foreign oil:

"Saeed Abdel Ghaffar Khouri paid 14 million dollar for an Abu Dhabi license plate with the number 1, breaking the previous record held by his relative Talal Ali Mohammad Khouri, who paid up to 7 million dollars for the Abu Dhabi plates with number 5 and number 7. After the auction of 90 plates Khouri said he would have bid as much as 26 million dollars to get the desiriable plate. When asked what he intends to do with the plate he stated that the plate will be kept on one of the family cars and that he has no intention to sell it."
What a ****** pathetic joke.

Dirt,

We have a guy at work named Roman Boycheck. I have always thought that would be an unfortunate name for a member of a certain clergy.

Back in the day, when I worked at Applied Physics Labs, we had a program manager named Richard Wank.

Jon,

I am happy to see that our brothers in the Arabic world, presumed members of the religion of peace, are spending their petrodollars so productively to the benefit of their society. Relative to a certain holy book authored in the 7th century, they feel that we should be destroyed for our decadence. Perhaps they will invent $400 postage stamps, $20000 cell phones, and special flatbreads will cost $1200 for a bag of six. Let's allow them to continue in the manner they have chosen.

Yep..........this oil thing is affecting the Amish too. Since the price of grain and corn have skyrocketed and truckin the feed to the farm it's costing a lot to feed the horse. So the Amish are going from this ......................

DIRT,
That second bug is a HELLGRAMITE BUG. We have lots of em down here in MILLERSBURG on the river. Hellgramites are found under the rocks near river, makes great bait for smallmouths. They have pinchers that really hurt when they are in the puapa stage. And barbs on their tails that sick to you. Ugly bug.

Laz, ya put me on the right trail...

Though both male and female hellgrammites have sharp mandibles, those of the male adult dobsonfly are much bigger than the females' and are unable to harm humans, as they're so long and have such poor leverage that they're incapable of breaking the skin. They are used exclusively for grasping the females during mating.

Hey Daisy, hearing that, betcha you wish ol' Trampy was a dobsonfly!

Female dobsonflies, however, retain the short, powerful pincers they had as larvae, so they can inflict painful--albeit nonvenomous--bites, which can draw blood. When threatened, they will raise their heads and spread their jaws menacingly. They also possess an irritating, foul-smelling anal spray, as a last-ditch defense.

Now THAT sure doesn't sweeten the pot any!

 :x
