Heading down the interstate this morning on the way to work I passed by my favorite Hooters billboard. I could'nt help but notice how nice their breasts looked in the morning light. I love this country.

If you want to find history, follow the train man..................
Tramp, the stack has a weighted-flap cover, intended to keep the rain out of your cylinders via the exhaust manifold, which tends to be detrimental to the longevity of one's engine, but as sometimes it rains g*ddang sideways around here, I don't trust it, so I slip the jug over the stack for my peace of mind.
I use a "Wege Pretzels" jug, out of Hanover Pa. 'Sourdough Hards' tends to work better than the low-fat regulars.
Absolutely right, Hev, about the target practice. Airborne has a birthday rolling around in November. His campaign for a 'real gun' began July 1st, but is now beginning to hit it's stride BIG-time, and is the last thing I hear before bed and the first thing in the morning. He has moved beyond stump-speeches to 'local saturation-advertising' and a lobbyist in the form of his neighbor-bud in the hollow, who already owns three 'real-guns', and who is younger than Aaron by 9 months. How's a poor kid to live with horror and humiliation like that? I am the principle target because it will be over his mother's cold dead body that he acquires one. But he has begun to understand that hunting (alongside his pop-pop) with a BB gun serves little purpose but to amuse the deer, and though we still find it incredibly cute, he's growing WAY too mature for "cute". Word.
Any of you guys want to throw in your opinions? Not that they will carry any weight with the redhead, but maybe I can overwhelm her with sheer numbers...

As our Hero rips off the wrapping paper, a familiar green package (familiar, simply because there were already several in the home) greeted his eyes. A Remington box.
Carefully, because he realized what was in the box, and he had been taught that this item needed to be treated with respect, and care, he opened the box, and read the instructions. For the first time in his life (and nearly the last) he read the instructions, before trying to open the action on the Remington 572 that his dad gave him for his 12th Christmas.
Even the belived Lionel 726rr stood silent for this Christmas morning.
I have been around firearms all my life, and when my tribe was old enough, I started teaching firearms safety to them.
Education, not stupitity ensures gun safety.
Here's my advice. Pick up a bolt action, single shot .22. Teach him basic rifle marksmanship, SAFETY, maintenence,SAFETY, ammo selection SAFETY, making sure of his backstop SAFETY, and you will have a SAFE shooter for life!

ANG, thanks! Would it change your mind to know he's turning 10? He's had a succession of BB/pellet guns for years, and has proven trustworthy with the safety-factor, but a 22 slug might hurt a bit more.
What he is asking for is a .30-30.

I was shooting a .22 as early as 6 with Dad's watchful eyes on me at all times. The earlier the better, can't instill good shooting and safety habits too early!
The same comment goes for trains too, the earlier the better!
