Minor compared to the Bay Bridge on a Sunday evening.

True on distance and only truly foolish attempt that route. But the Beltway does have 4 lanes so there are a few cars out there; Clara Barton Pkwy was closed; Chain Bridge and Canal Rd were closed.

My brother says his car is parked on the third level of a parking garage in Frederick...says he's nervous.

3rd up - probably not a problem; 3rd down - invest in scuba gear.

I just caught this on the morning news. A lot of water flowing through D.C.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

3" in an hour will do that.... Woke up to helicopters this morning - main connector road behind us is closed - washed out apparently.

You're gonna need a bigger boat! This weather is a bit unsettling. We went through this most of last summer and even into the fall. My fall fishing was ruined by high water. Saturday the river was just about to normal pool but by Monday, back up 3 ft higher, brown, and ragin'. It's gonna cost us in food prices 'cause many of the local farmers who send veggies to the markets planted late if they were fortunate enough to plow and get planted at all. I sure haven't seen any corn that was knee high by the 4th of July! It's the damn communists doin' this I tell ya!

Well, it's better than last year - that was rain more days than sun almost all year and set records. Still it was too wet to get into the fields for planting this year and so everything is running later than normal. Communists? I think it's the fault of all those people that failed to sacrifice to the Elder Gods for far too long.

I think it is the fault of those that did not pay homage to the gods and goddesses of the fields
by showing their respect by having sexual intercourse in the open fields on the first day of spring.

Roger, that sounds like a recipe for a chilly willy.

Today's round beat the tomatoes right down to the ground. At least it's not Louisiana, those poor buggers.

New Orleans is already under water, due to high Mississippi levels. They're looking at possible rain and storm surges, this weekend.

Was not much more than steady rain where we are, but the storms frequently seem to break a bit to out immediate west as they travel eastward - what happens then is that the really hard rains hit through Tysons into Mclean and/or go a bit south and hammer Alexandria.

OMG : Just on the News, a woman and child in her car were swamped by a flooded stream in Pennsylvania and swept downstream while she was on her cellphone asking for help. They perished.

My understanding is that it only takes a few inches of moving water to lift your car free of the pavement, then you're humped. People's propensity to drive into water of unknown depth never ceases to amaze me.

I saw NOAA just posted that the US set a record for rainfall over the last 12 months. The heat index is supposed to hit 110 degrees here on Saturday...if you need to get in touch with me, I'll be laying out back under the sprinkler.
