Everyone going in one or several entrances and being checked through various machines would add more time to going to school. Airports want passengers there two hours before departure time ( or something like that). Many parents probably wouldn't care because that would be less time that they would need to be responsible and care for their own children. The real problem would be cost. Who would pay that?
Almost anything would be construed as anti freedom or against the childrens freedom of expression.

Now seriously, not meaning the above was not serious, I really have no idea what to do with this problem.
This is way beyond any expertise, if any, that I ever had.

Hi Roger, I remember "bull sessions" we had in dorms and frat houses back in the Ohio colleges of the 60s. We would cover topics as diverse as who was depicted as sitting to the left of Jesus at The Last Supper, by Leonardo da Vinci, and who killed Kennedy. One of the advantages of those bull sessions was that a wide variety of experiences and knowledge got to be "aired" - shared in the same room. Possibly, minds grew. At the very least, information was shared.

That is what I am hoping for in discussions like this one, which is ostensibly about the question of shootings in schools in the USA . Maybe something productive can result. Maybe we'll have a bit of fun. At the very least , we may become more acquainted. Humans are social animals; we like to gab.

Murph,
Often as much was learned in dorm bull sessions as in classes. You know, they may have the answer to how to stop the school shootings right now
but no one asks students what to do about problems. What would they know about it? Only those guys with PHDs know how to handle this kind of
problem. (Rufus has doctorates but I doubt if he fits here.) I have little respect for those professors that are teaching (using the term loosely)
students but have no real practical experience outside of a classroom. They will come up with how to do it. It won't work. Hoping for the best
and being very happy that I have been retired for eighteen years.

This is why the Constitution is a living document. There were passages in the Constitution which counted slaves as 3/5 of a person, for representation purposes. The time for the Second Amendment is passed, and it should be removed.

California is almost at that point now. So Roy you will have to give up that 44 magnum for protection from the home invaders that will be coming for you.

Get with the program Roy and help California succeed from the rest of us and you can make up your own country. I am sure you will be happy being part of northern Mexico, they don't have a second amendment. Only 30 thousand murders in Mexico last year. They don't use guns, they cut your head off with a machete.

What should happen with the second amendment is that the legal interpretation should return to it's pre-1994 version, you know, what the folks who wrote it actually intended. The right to personal gun ownership was originally and still is protected by the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The gun manufacturer's lobby, masquerading as a hunter's rights organization, has spent the last forty years perverting the second amendment to it's own uses and so, now we have fruit cakes, nut balls, and assorted other dingbats running around armed to the teeth with hyper efficient weapons that have NOTHING to do with hunting. My younger brother told me he has actually run into dumb asses out in the woods hunting with an AR-15 variant. Who the hell would want to eat anything taken with a .223 round, it really tears the game up something fierce. I've never needed anything more than a Daisy Red Rider or a shotgun for legitimate civilian usage. Any time I needed more, the government was quite willing to equip me with a wonderful fully functional .308 caliber man killer. This entire argument has destroyed any hope of cohesiveness in our country and I hope those lobbyists running NRA and GOA are happy with themselves. This isn't the country we grew up in, want to know why, find a mirror.

I was a nra member for one year. As a welcome to the nra they sent me a pocketknife. Damn thing was made in China. From that moment on I knew they did not care about Americans and their rights.

Can you buy a mass produced knife that is made in this country ? I haven't seen any. Every thing is made in china because Americans don't want to pay the price for made in the USA.

There are custom knifes made here but they are very Pricey.

I certainly hope that CASE knives are still being made in Bradford, Pa. Old Timer is another good one, hope they're still made here.

The second amendment, as written, should be interpreted as it has been affirmed by the Supreme Court and backed up by the Federalist Papers. The whole of the population are the militia. Retired Justice John Paul Stevens can go to hell!

And the constitution ain't no "living document". It's as finite as it can be. The Framers were brilliant, even clairvoyant, in knowing that if any loopholes were left, an ever intrusive government or the leftists would find them.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

Right, Mitch.
In a non-doubt vain attempt to dispel the ignorance prevailing on the 2nd Amendment, I recommend Joyce Lee Malcolm's Right to Keep and Bear Arms

I don't have a .44 Magnum. That gag came up in the context of Murph's arkoudaphobia. Also, I think you meant secede, not succeed.

The murders in Mexico are a huge tragedy, and a testament to wrongheaded drug policies.

The second amendment was written to provide the states with a defense against invasions, uprisings and attempts by a dictator to take over the country.

Those threats are still real.
