It might be better if folks would all learn to think for themselves working from real information which is exceedingly difficult to obtain.

OTOH, one can turn on CNN, MSNBC, or whatever you want and think is a source of information and be reduced to a small bowl of jelly.............or go looking to see dinosaurs and ask #6 for information.

Sorry Roger, that was a casual remark meant to give Sarge an opprtunity to pontificate, I do love when he does that because he does it so well.

D notices are used in the UK and Australia by the government to inform the media that they'd prefer it if they kept their mouths shut about something. Its not mandatory though in wartime it was and came with very severe penalties.

Mike,

Nothing to be sorry for.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I think the press used to be a little more concerned about
national interests than they are today. Now a reporting
group needs to have the big scoop and if one is not
available just make up something or leave out something
or add something to help your side.

It used to be about reported the news and facts..........and now it's devolved to a bunch of talking heads jabbering endlessly repeating the same incremental tidbit of non-news.......like what's trending on Youtube.

I do think, in this country, that it behooves The Press/Media and even the local and state and federal governments to "keep-things-close-to-the-vest," i.e., to shut up, at times. Do We The People absolutely positively have to know every move that is being planned and/or executed in defense or offense of our country and its people, here and abroad? Others are listening, ya' know. Sssshhheeeessshhh! I'll bet a lot of us will make it through the day if we do not know the precise geographical location of our next move. Eh? Huh?

There is nothing better liked by our elected officials to be able to yak to the press to prove how important they are..............when they just need to be

I don't think we would have been so successful in WW II if the press at that time were like todays.
Apparently they could keep secrets. Consider Oak Ridge,TN. Huge development but most had no
idea exactly what it was. The locals didn't know. Today we would invoke the freedom of information
laws and tell everybody about it. Of course foreign spies knew more.

My son still has carrots in the garden and will be harvesting the last of them today................and then I had a remembrance:

..And the Angel Of The Lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber. And took me on high, and higher still, until we moved through the spaces 'betwixt the air itself. And he brought me unto a vast farmland of our own Midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil.

One thousand, 'nay, a million voices, full of fear. And terror possessed me then. And I begged, "Angel Of The Lord, what are these tortured screams?" and the Angel said unto me, "These are the Cries Of The Carrots. The Cries Of The Carrots... Y'see Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is Harvest Day, and to them, it is The Holocaust."

And I sprang from my slumber, drenched in sweat, like the tears of a million terrified brothers. And, Lord, Hear me now, I have seen the light!

They have a consciousness, They have a life, They have a soul. Damn You! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!

Can I get an "Amen?"
AMEN!
Can I get a Hallelujah?
HALLELUJAH!

Thank you, Jesus!

'Thankyou Jesus!'

You're welcome. Now go forth and sin no more but if you can't manage that go fifth of the liquor of your choice.

It is likely that most of the Russian forces that have already or are scheduled to be deployed to Syria will come from the Southern Military District, whose AO responsibilities include Syria (as well as Ukraine). The 150,000 Russians number talked about last week most likely had to do with someone hearing that the Russian Southern Military District was going to deploy to Syria (the district strength is about 150,000). But that encompasses two whole armies, the 58th (who mostly suck balls) and the 49th (who also suck balls), as well as many separate brigades (some are decent), as well as naval fleets (including some decent Marine brigades), so it will not be the whole district, as many are still busy with Ukraine, just a small portion of it. Also, quite a few of the units already disclosed to have deployed to Syria are from the Southern district that were pulled from Ukraine to redeploy to Syria, especially since the Ukraine war is winding down. Note, for those who have experience in combat overseas, these Russian units are still at least half conscripts and redeployed with zero reset (no break, for R&R and to reorganize, refit the unit).

As it is, some elite units like the 76th Airborne have also been deployed to both the Ukraine and Syria. This should is telling, since that division is one of the few elite formations in the Western Military District, not the Southern. Their AO is not Ukraine, nor Syria. If they had to tap them for the Ukraine and immediately into Syria, with no reset time period whatsoever, it means the Russians are hard up for competent units, enough that they are willing to rob Peter to pay Paul. As ground combat casualties continue to rise it should be interesting how quickly their top tier units go to shit.

Things are getting more interesting.

Inevitable. Turkey, expected.

"This thing will get out of control! It'll get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it!"

I figured it would happen. Can't really blame the Turks, though. Every country has the right to defend their own airspace, and the Ruskies were warned. They're violating everybody's air space lately, including ours, just to see if they can get away with it without a reaction. With us, they got away with it. Not so, the Turks.

Putting 150 thousand boots on the ground is one thing, supply and logistics is another. Most of their troops are conscript soldiers. Although a bit more trained then the Afghanistan days fighting the Mujahadeen, the terrorists have come a long way from throwing chains into the rotors of helicopters passing through mountain ridges. Welcome to IEDS and VBIEDS, comrades.
