I still think those photos of the UP locos and the one from Tramp are photos of the real thing and you guys just want us to think they are models.

Of course I'm kidding. I think. Maybe.

Fantastic locos either way. Tramps would also fit in this group.

Entirely possible, but I do have the chainsaw and I'm going to take what remains down to the ground level later today.

Seems the B&M HS is more receptive than the 2-railers: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bmrrhs/22 ... otostream/

Tramp,

I may be confused. Is that loco 2R or 3R?
I'm sure you know that if it is 3R only a very few 2R guys,
Sarge and Rufus come to mind, will show any interest at all.
The quality of the work doesn't seem to matter.

I probably have stepped on some toes but that is what it
seems to be to me.

Not here, surely Roger? At OGR yes for sure but I'd not expect that sort of snobbery here. I distinctly remember the well deserved praise 2railjon's work got before he finally went 2 rail.

LOL! Sounds like an opening lines to a Twilight Zone episode.

It gets better.....

The roofers arrived yesterday. Stripped off the old shingles and got some new on, and had the rest buttoned up with felt paper..........and then the rain arrived......the rain that we told them about that their office said wasn't going to happen

And we found that they kind of forgot to put anything over the plumbing vent over the kitchen.......and it was raining inside....down the electrical fixtures.....into the cabinets....

I let my wife confront them in the driveway - much more effective (and entertaining...); she can make people cry over the phone.

I know that the boxwood is just biding its time for an opportune time to attack and to wreck vengeance. Bugger will probably take out the foundation on that side..........or there will be snakes under teh stump.....with laser beams.....

Not sure how you feel about the use of chemicals, but you could paint the open trunks/stems with undiluted roundup or some other total vegetation killer. It will kill the roots and next year you should be able to just pull it out. Love the man coming up out of the garden.

Out surveying the part of the NY world known as the Capital District. Caught some lock action on the Mohawk this morning:

Looking down-river at Lock 7 (boater waiting to proceed down-stream):

Had not considered actually creating my own........as they are available for purchase.

Intriguing thought,

Niskayuna train station today, on the old Troy & Schenectady Railroad right-of-way (converted to a rails-to-trails):

Image

The T&S was founded in 1836, subsequently acquired by the New York Central in 1853. End-to-end, it was twenty-one miles long, originating in Troy.

The station in earlier times:

The T&S connected to the Troy Union Railroad at Troy, a joint venture between the New York Central (NYC), the Delaware & Hudson (D&H) and the Boston & Maine (B&M). It operated as a branch of the NYC, later the Penn Central, until the 1970's. I seem to recall reading that Troy was the western terminus of the B&M.

T&S western terminus at Schenectady Union Station (demolished in 1970):

T&S eastern terminus at Troy Union Station (demolished in 1958):

Bummer...New York is hell for tearing down their train stations...
