Murph, mate

I'll spare you the lecture, only after saying take what these guys write to heart.
Happy to hear from you.

I am 80 and I think Murph is @70. I think a lot of us may be over 60 and we should be extra careful.
That doesn't mean that you young whippersnappers should take chances. You need to be careful also.

Thank you for all the information, Doc Wayne, and Thank you Sarge, Healey, Roger for urging me to see my doctor. I will, as soon as the weather and roads clear-up.

I had previously vowed to visit several specialists and my dentist, as soon as the weather is warmer (assuming I'll still be around for such vow-keeping.) Plus, I am making adjustments in my life to accommodate DAILY exercise (at least 2 - 5 [eventually built-up to] mile walks per day) and the diminution of my girth. As I have assured Frank53 on more than one occasion (he succeeded in his quest - quite some time ago - to lose weight and get healthier, I am glad to report,) I am going to exercise and cut-out-the-sweets my way down to 170-ish, sort of.

And sitting in the basement crafting for hours on-end has to be adjusted, too. I'm not sure how, as yet, but changes have to be made. I finally realized I have not been guaranteed any particular number of years ahead, not even the number of hours. But I can work on the quality of the time to be spent.

Let me know how you progress. I've been advised that I need to shed fifty to sixty pounds myself...not sure where to start.

I managed to loose 50 pounds over several years. FWIW, I cut way back on bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, carrots and hard liquor. Ate more green veg, sweet potates and salad, no more than 2 glasses of wine.

Also we take a 1/4 mile walk to/from supper.

Murph! Holy sh*t, just saw that post. My first thought was your blood sugar was tanking. Couldn't read fast enough to see if you were alright.

Which you are.

Hope Daisy and Tramp are OK. Looks like coastal Maine took it in the ear.

I hope so also. They seem to be able to make it through just about everything.

I'm starting with "push-offs," pushing off from the table before over-eating. Then, absolutely NO late-night snacking; NO ice cream; one or two slices of pizza - not half pies. Permanently.

And walking. Walking. And walking. My wife says the weight pours off me when I walk and that I look a whole lot better right away - even as soon as the walk is completed for that morning and I am returned to the house (!)

Oh, and did I mention discipline - self-discipline - not an arbitrarily imposed "diet" of monastery-like austerity, from which I would only emerge at the exit door ravenous for the foods I missed. No. For me it is a matter on control and diminishment - both of me and of the portions and types of foods I shove in.

And I'm confessing all this here, publicly, because even Frank53 couldn't get me to behave, even factoring in his significant success at weight control, and get control. So, maybe knowing you guys will notice if I post a photo now and then of some success, it will affect my eventual outcome.

Thank you,Pete. I have been told I am "hypo-glycemic." Maybe I am, and maybe that was what happened to me.
Thank you, again.
