Re: ZW Transformer

Sometime ago my Z4000 transformer developed a problem that no one has been able to diagnose. With MTH shutting down parts are not available. Therefore I think maybe a postwar ZW might be the best solution. Parts still seem to be available and repair persons are familiar with it. A few questions. Ad...

Re: Mike Wolf is retiring

My guess is Bachman buys them. They are the big boys with the cash and monopoly on Chinese factories. I own and enjoy many purple boxed MTH train cars and a few nice PS1 diesels I have converted to TMCC. I currently belong to a large HO/HOn3 layout club where MTH lawsuits and corrupted DCC control s...

Re: UP Steam's Ed Dickens to speak at Rocky Mountain Train Show

Here is the video of Ed's UP Steam presentation from the March 7 2020 show. Luckily we got the show off of the weekend of March 7. One week latter and the show would have been cancelled and we would have been in big financial trouble. Attendance was good but down slightly due to people concerned abo...

Re: Missing RadioShack

Yes, all of the above but also EBay if you don’t need it fast. I’ve bought resistors, diodes, LEDs, heat shrink tubing, rotating multi-pole selector switches and DPDT toggle switches off EBay. They are always cheaper, usually free shipping, mostly from China and slow shipping.

Re: Rufus T. Firefly earns MMR!!!!

I received my NMRA magazine today and there you are. Very impressive achievement. I’m not sure that I’ll ever achieve the requirements for MMR. I’ve started the dispatcher requirements and could probably get the electronic requirement if I ever get motivated to complete the paperwork. Congratulation...

Webenda
After watching my video from the fireman's side it appears you're correct, that both sides of the firebox are plumbed to the engineers side.

For you engineering types here is the Wilson Centrifugal Blowoff Muffler info from the 1941 Locomotive Encyclopedia.

Re: UP 4014 chase 8/2019

Wayne that’s my driver train friend Susan. By the time the steam got to us it was cool and actually felt good in the hot sun. The blow down system used to be a continuous blowdown. It had a device up top where the hot pressurized fluid/sludge from the bottom sides of the firebox was piped up top to ...

Re: UP 4014 chase 8/2019

You’re welcome. We chased the train for over an hour straight without a break. I had almost fifty minutes of chasing video before I edited it down. There were about 15 cars chasing to start about 8 at the end. My friend Susan was driving and had done this many times in the past. She drove that old B...
