Re: Union Pacific Streamliner Cars in 1/4 Scale - Wasatch Model Company 1/4 Scale

Trainz listed 26 Wasatch cars on their website today - thankfully, they're HO so my wallet is safe. I'm now wasting time comparing the HO cars in the Trainz photos to Eric's photos. The HO cars look amazing in Trainz's low resolution photos, but even in those low resolution photos I'm able to ...

Re: Reviving older O Scale

I mentioned tapping 5-40, which I did. 5-40 UNC was a standard thread in the 1940s. All Nation and Little Engines used that size. So I found I was out of 5-40 brass, and started looking. Nope. Well, yes, for $5 or so per screw! What length and head type are you looking for? Grainger has 1/2" l...

There's an HOSwap list on groups.io, plus a bunch of Facebook groups.

Re: Ebay

This is a current listing for BT and a good example of their exorbinate shipping charges. It's a USH unpainted tank car in good condition with a decent box. The starting bid is probably what it's worth, but that number is up to the buyer. This one? O Brass Model - USH 302 8,000 Gallon Double Dome T...

Re: Ebay

Cost of USH cab forwards, at least those sold by reputable people, appears to have appreciated. The reputable people part is key! Tonight, the same seller (Bill Davis) sold a Precision/KTM New York Central De-Streamlined Hudson for $2,851.01: https://www.ebay.com/itm/147432371315 Brasstrains.com's ...

Re: Adding P&D power kit to GP9 shell

I assume this thread is about the Weaver and P&D mechanisms that use a chain on each truck. There is a single gear at the top of the tower and a gear on each of the two wheel axles. P&D used to sell replacements gears and chain, but I don't think they have them anymore (because the store/web...

Re: The Chinese QJ 2-10-2

I've long been fascinated by Chinese steam. When i was in high school, J. David Conrad imported three SYs into the US -- and a few years later, when I was in college, the Susquehanna bought one of those and started running it out of my hometown. A few years later, I attended two T.Y. Lin lectures in...

Re: Upcoming Stout Auction

There were O-scale items in Stout's June 18, 2026 auction: 2 and 3 Rail Train Auction of N scale to G scale! Includes Brass, Atlas, MTH, Sunset Models, 3rd Rail, Overland Models, Lionel, Live Steam & More. Even after Stout's commission and shipping fees, the prices realized seemed (to me!) to be...

Re: Union Pacific Streamliner - Wasatch Model Company 1/4 Scale

Erik - Beautiful photos, as usual! With the wasatch UP cars the Trouble is they predate factory paint and require decent painting which I did my own but its not so easy. I've bought them with Krylon finishes... strip and redo. I'm wondering what I'm seeing in that photo you titled Drum Head made esp...
