Re: Paint Shop
I’ve always been curious about how you prep that brass body for paint. Is that some type of automotive primer that goes on before the finish paint? Also, do you pre treat that brass before you prime it? Really beautiful, I love the daylight livery.

Re: Weekend Photos - October 2025
Looks great Paul! Is this going to have the snowy, sparkling look of the other Christmas structures you’ve built in the past? I can’t say how much I love those structures. I think I’ve watched you do those for a few years now and I must say it really does get me into the Christmas spirit. That being...

Don’t you think giving them a drivers license and letting them vote was enough?

Lionel 300 Hellgate repurposed as a highway bridge: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54251616846_50eb73a7f4_b.jpg Some nice diecast as well. This is a really nice looking scene Paul! Regarding Wayne’s photo. Right or wrong who is policing this kind of stuff? Seems it would be a nearly impossible...

Re: Figure painting
Paul, thank you for taking the time to post such a long and thorough reply on figure painting. I have a train stuff file that I’ve saved this in for future reference. Those tanks do, indeed look incredibly detailed. I’m certain when the moment hits me that I will do some figure painting. That partic...

Re: Figure painting
I’ve been looking for a few rail fans. Maybe they’ll turn up in York. I’m always impressed with your figure painting skills Paul. What’s the best way to deal with this? and no it’s not going to be a Marty Feldman figure on my layout  https://i.ibb.co/HpHhP8gj/IMG-1539.jpg img host

Re: Weekend Photos - September 2025
I'm gonna have to climb up there, unscrew two or three sections of track so that I can pull it out. This of course will require moving a bunch of accumulated stuff Been here more than once. Usually the hardest part is the climb, after that everything else pales in comparison. Like everything else, ...

Really beautiful train Carey. Those look nearly perfect for original paint. How/where were you able to acquire them if you don’t mind me asking.

Re: Weekend Photos - September 2025
I’ve only bought a few things from them over the years. The only issue I can remember is a faulty draw bar on a PS-2 engine. I sent it back to them and they repaired it and sent the engine back free of charge. I’d say everything else has been ‘as described’ and what I expected, and priced reasonably.

"The coach car is ready to go out of the box with an analog control system and features like overhead and open side windows, full interior seating with passengers, and factory-painted with lettered details." Really? Looks like a completely unbuilt kit... "Factory Painted/Lettered, Fu...

Buying it for the nostalgia
This is nuts to me since I was born in 69. 57 years old for this thing! I would not really buy this but I’m imagining a scenario where I buy this, build it, contact the owners or their ancestors  and hand it to them and say “ I know he always wanted to build this “ here you go! https://eb...

Re: Caboose Projects
In this case, I don't want someone looking over the yard, pointing and saying, "Oh, that's a nice car!" I want them saying, "This is a nice railroad." It's an ops platform. I want people fixated on what they are doing, not what they are seeing. I’m just impressed that you seem t...

Re: Caboose Projects
Carrying on with the Atlas NE-6 project, I made the thinly veiled backhanded slap at modern product in general and this car in particular as "2-rail hirail". In the spirit of fairness, I shall demonstrate: Here we have the original trucks, couplers, and height of the car as it comes from ...
